Friday, February 6, 2015

Having a barbecue party at home is very common for us when having a family gathering or get together for friends.

Thai have their own barbecue style, which is very famous for tourist. Mookata buffet style is everywhere in Hatyai. But for those who don’t eat pork, this restaurant is for you. Originally “Mookata” means pork skillet, because in Thai "moo" means pig. But because there are lots of Muslim or Islam living in Thailand, this Thai halal restaurant doesn't serve pork.

According to the history, the idea of cooking the pork skillet to a dome shape hotpot is originated long time ago when a soldier from Chiang Mai, northern Thailand grilled meat using their helmet. A folk story from their ancestors.

The meat was marinated and already half cook and you’re going to grill it in a dome shape hotpot. Around the metal, the skillet is a chicken soup, where you can put vegetables, fish balls, and noodles. Usually, they put pork lard but because it’s Halal, they put beef fat instead to grease the metal skillet. The soup will release a good smell and become flavorful with the mix of beef fats that flows downmixing together with the boiled fish balls, hot dogs, noodles, and vegetables.

You can eat unlimited Thai foods, Thai dessert, different kinds of noodles, vegetables salad, fruits, ice cream with 2 flavors and roti. Unlimited drink for soft drinks, coffee, chocolate drinks and tea.
